A temp desk does not lose money because it cannot find people. Why the failure points are different

A professional role that slips a week is a delay. A shift that goes unfilled on Tuesday is revenue that cannot be recovered, because Tuesday does not come back.

That changes what matters. Quality of fill is a threshold rather than a scale: the worker either meets the requirement or does not, and above that line faster is strictly better. Professional recruitment is the reverse, where a better candidate two weeks later is frequently worth waiting for.

On a professional desk, a candidate confirmed available in March is broadly still available in April.
